چکیده

We conjecture that a two-dimensional anyon system reduces, when confined to a narrow channel, to a one-dimensional bose gas with a repulsive two-body δ-function interaction. We verify this conjecture in first-order perturbation theory near bosons. If the channel width is reduced to zero, the one-dimensional system is fermionic for all anyons other than bosons. Calculation of Quasi-one-dimensional Interacting Electron Gas Using the Hartree-Fock Method

In this paper, the Hartree-Fock method has been formulated to investigate some of the ground state properties of quasi-one-dimensional interacting electron gas in the presence of the magnetic field. The bare coulomb interaction between electrons has been assumed. For this system, we have also computed some of its thermodynamic and magnetic properties such as the energy, pressure, incompressibil...

Two-dimensional Bose gas at low density

We propose a new method to describe the interacting bose gas at zero temperature. For three-dimensional system the correction to the groundstate energy in density is reproduced. For two-dimensional dilute bose gas the groundstate energy in the leading order in the parameter | ln α2ρ|−1 where α is a scattering length is obtained.

We have measured the critical atom number in a harmonically trapped two-dimensional (2D) Bose gas of rubidium atoms at different temperatures. We found this number to be about five times higher than predicted by the semi-classical theory of Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) in the ideal gas. This demonstrates that the conventional BEC picture is inapplicable in an interacting 2D atomic gas, in s...

One-dimensional non-interacting fermions in harmonic confinement: equilibrium and dynamical properties

We consider a system of one-dimensional non-interacting fermions in external harmonic confinement. Using an efficient Green’s function method we evaluate the exact profiles and the pair correlation function, showing a direct signature of the Fermi statistics and of the single quantum-level occupancy. We also study the dynamical properties of the gas, obtaining the spectrum both in the collision...

Mapping out the quasicondensate transition through the dimensional crossover from one to three dimensions

By measuring the density fluctuations in a highly elongated weakly interacting Bose gas, we observe and quantify the transition from the ideal gas to a quasicondensate regime throughout the dimensional crossover from a purely one-dimensional (1D) to an almost three-dimensional (3D) gas. We show that that the entire transition region and the dimensional crossover are described surprisingly well ...
